We are a 10 year old winery located in Southern New Jersey producing over 6000 cases of wine a year. The vineyards, 22 acres of mostly vinifera, surround and feed our winery. We are self-starting entrepreneurs, with a passion for delivering quality wines and agri-tourism experiences for our customers. In our wine bar, the Enoteca, we offer a unique wine tasting environment and entertainment venue. Our work environment is youthful and energetic.
Type of Work:
Full time seasonal vineyard work March through October. Monday through Friday weather permitting. Occasional Saturday’s with overtime eligibility during peak spring and fall activities. Opportunities for offseason winery and tasting room work for qualified individuals.
We focus on quality viticulture and the candidate would learn all aspects of vineyard management from planting to harvest. We perform balanced pruning, canopy management and lag phase measurements for crop estimation.
We are looking for an individual with a passion for agriculture and outside work. The candidate would work as a member of a small team. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn all of the quality techniques involved in cultivating quality wine grapes. Specifically the candidate will learn our terroir and how each grape varietal impacts the wines produced on site. The typical day schedule is 6 am to 3pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Dormant pruning.
• Spring bud removal
• Trellis maintenance and repair
• Shoot thinning, suckering, and leaf pulling
• Sampling for nutrient management and crop estimation
• Mowing, hedging and routine vineyard ground maintenance
• Pest management – insect and disease scouting
• Primary wine processing with grape crush and press
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
• Follows orders, procedures and protocol meticulously
Skills & Qualifications:
Prior agriculture or vineyard work experience preferred. Must be over 18. Applicant should possess basic math skills and ability to log/document work accurately, a love of agriculture and interest in learning about wine. Others qualifications include thoroughness, attention to detail, willing to ask questions, possess professionalism, good verbal and written communication, able to work reliably and safely with a team or alone. Must be able to lift thirty-fifty (30-50) pounds. Ability to stand and move for 8 hours with willingness to work 10-12 hour days on occasion.
